CHOIR DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

· Rehearse weekly with the choir and direct the choir anthems, responses and service music for the worship services from September through mid June.

Weekly rehearsals are usually Wed. from 7:30-9:00 p.m. and 15 minutes before services.

· Prepare a special Christmas and/or Easter program (Cantata, Music Drama, etc) in addition to regular worship service anthems.

· Arrange for instrumental/vocal special music and co-ordinate with the Children's and Adult choir anthems so there is special music every week of the year if possible.

· Work with the Pastor to choose appropriate hymns and special music to support and enhance sermon topics.

· Order choir music and necessary music supplies

· See that choir robes are cleaned when necessary

· Attend Choir Director/Music conferences to help in music selection and purchases as able.

· Develop budget line for music area.

· Music placement in the order of worship service as directed by the Pastor.

· Prepare and communicate music plan for choir or other special music

· Communicate monthly

· Review with Pastor and accompanist

· Initiate frequent communication with Pastor and accompanist regarding this area of ministry.

· Understanding of contemporary worship music a plus.
